FAQs

  • What is the adoption process?
Complete an easy, online adoption application that includes the upload of photos and/or videos of where the dog will live, including yard and fenceline, if applicable. We may conduct a home check and background check. Approved applicants are interviewed and a meet-and-greet with the dog is scheduled. Once approved, you will remain approved with the rescue for one year and can email us when you see a dog that you think could be a good fit for you! Final adoptions are conducted only after the dog is: --spayed/neutered, --current on health vaccines, and --microchipped. An adoption fee is collected via online or traditional methods. The microchip is transferred into adopter name by our volunteers, and medical records are provided to the adopter.
  • Does completing an application obligate me in any way?
All of our foster or adoption placements are "trial" to ensure a good fit. We do have applicants sign a "chain-of-custody" agreement saying that we are tranferring the dog to you temporarily until the final adoption process. A refundable deposit is collected for placements that are interested in adoption. The deposit goes towards the adoption fee. Of course, placing a dog with an applicant obligates them to provide shelter, food, and care for the dog.
  • Where do you place adoptable dogs?
We do place animals in out-of-state homes. We place animals in homes located within a 10-hour-radius of Twin Falls or Boise, depending on where the animal is fostered or boarded at the time. Some exceptions are made for dogs that are having a little difficulty finding their furever family.
  • Are there any restrictions on placements?
We do not necessarily require yards for all of our adoptable dogs. However, if a home has a yard, then we require a fence or other way to keep the dog safe with few exceptions (e.g., puppies and some dogs that can be trained). We place dogs in homes where all the domestic animals (e.g., dogs, cats, rabbits) are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason or the animal is a senior.
  • What are your adoption fees?
Adoption fees range from $100 - $300, depending on the age of the dog. $300 - Puppies to 1 year $225 - Over 1 year to 7 years $150 - Over 7 years to 9 years $100 - Over 9 years The fees help cover our costs for the pet. On average, a neuter is $125 - $160, and spay is $150 - $230, vaccines $60+ (puppies require 3 rounds of vaccines), microchip $30, other miscellaneous vet fees, and food. Some dogs also require medical attention on arrival and those fees vary greatly and can run over $1,000. All fees collected go towards saving the next dog.
  • What do the adoption fees include?
Adoption fees include: --Spay or neuter surgery --DHPP (parvo) vaccine (good for 1 year) --Health exam --Rabies vaccine (good for 1 year) --Microchip transferred into adopter name for lifetime of the pet --Medical records The dog may go home with a collar, leash, transition food, and toys or treats, based on donations that we receive.
  • When are adoptions finalized?
Final adoptions are conducted only after the dog is: --spayed/neutered, --current on health vaccines and rabies vaccine, and --microchipped. Final adoptions are initiated by the rescue via an email to the adopter that includes the adoption fee and an adoption contract to sign. An adoption fee is collected via online or traditional methods. The microchip is transferred into adopter name by our volunteers, and medical records are provided to the adopter.
